hi all, I set my card in cat3.8 to run the best quality for everything,
sync off and all else app preference except for FSAA, which I set to 2x.
when I attempt to run TRON2, my screen artefacts all blotchy and the game
immediately crashes, I had set all options to maximum with a screen res of
1024x768 32bit with dx9.0b. I think this is a ram problem on the card, it's
not OC'ed but is still overheating. I found this problem in jediacademy as
well but only after an hour playing.

I purchased this card because it was supposed to handle these games with no
problems but here you have it. should I underclock my ram or look for heat
sinks that will sit on the ram? its a red based board (that looks like the
ones you were supposed to be able to OC to a 9700 from a 9500) but it is an
original new card from powercolor.

My 9700np runs DX9 demos quite well, thank you.

My oc'd 9700pro kicks butt in MaxPayne2 and COD.

If it's not, you are a crackhead. Got pipe?

Yep. Have the same card. The memory gets excruciatingly hot. If I did not
have an 80mm fan blowin directly on it, or if I had forgotten to turn my
fans back up to 12V and played Tron2 or any other game/demo...artifact city.
I'm not pleased with PowerColor, one bit. I'm going either Sapphire, or
ATI, when I get my 9800pro next month.

The ramsinks are a good idea. Use some RTV compound to attach them.

The 9700 is NOT DX9 compatible.

Bullshit. The 9700 is DirectX 9 compatible and in addition provides
hardware acceleration of most or all of the new services provided by
that standard.

What ever gave you the idea that it was not, or are you just an nvidia
fanboy out to spread FUD?

Looking through Google, DaveW has repeated that falsehood at least 5
times. Sounds like a FUD merchant.

right now after not even playing a game, my mouse cursor and outlook icons
are all artefacted, my systray and taskbar are missing their icons too.
