Do Power Users have the privleges to run windows updates and install
the updates?

No, I don't believe so. What happens when you try?

Can not remember exactly but it is along the lines of you do not have
permissions. We are looking for a way to stop users from installing
unathorized software on there systems. The current admin set everyone up as
part of the local administrators group on the current machine. We are using
Novell and ZEN works. I know how to do this task if we were a microsoft shop
but since we are not I am looking for ways to remidy the situation. Plus I
would like to lock down the work stations a little better. The way it sits
right now we leave ourselves open to a lot of things.

Youch.

You can set autoupdates to run - or use WSUS.

Youch is right that is not the way to manage user on local system. Here you
go admin right bam *Grin*

I do have a WSUS server setup on a dev machine. It seems to be working
pretty good I have only about 7 people on it to test how it works and make
sure it is all running right. Using the new version which threw me on the
MCSE test because I never used the old one they test you on in those test.

I was not sure if autoupdates would work due to the permissions of power
users. I will look into this. Right now the admin is setting up updates as
ZEN objects to run automatically when people log in. I figured with the WSUS
server why reinvent the wheel.

I don't think most MCSE exams have much to do with the real world anyway....
