Power Users and print drivers

Gurus,

I have a problem with my corporate users who travel with their laptops. For
security reasons we do not want to give them local administrator rights on
their systems. So we give them Power Users rights. This means they can
install some software, but not anything that modifies the OS or any hardware
device drivers. That's all fine and good but how can I allow them to
install printer drivers? Most printers ship with a CD and to install that
you need to be an administrator. But I know they don't need all the bells
and whistles off of the CD, just need to print. So what do I tell them to
do given that their are hundreds of different types of printer models out
there?

How is this a solution? It is a link to an online wholesaler who sells
printers.

He's telling you to have them bring one printer with them wherever they
go and use that one only... Not the solution you were looking for I think.

Regards,

Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

The ability to install and modify drivers is a huge security risk.
Installation of a new driver can quickly take control of the OS away
from the admins.

Also, if you think you are safe giving power users rights you might want

Though to be honest, it is trivial to take control over any PC you have
physical access to.
