Power switch problem with my Dell OptiPlex GX-260

Hi

I have a Dell Optiplex GX-260 which is less than 2 yrs old. I have
been having a problem with the power switch for the past 6 months -
anytime I unplug or powerdown the computer for an extended period of
time, I wont be able to turn it on immediately. Say if I power it down
for 2 hours, then the power switch will remain yellow even after
pressing multiple times. I will have to keep it powered on for half
hour or so before I could press the button and turn on the computer.
I had to powerdown the PC again last weekend for repainting, and now
it has completely stopped working. It remains yellow immaterial how
long it stay connected and how many times I attempt to start it.

I would appreciate any help in resolving this.

I have experienced the same problem you are describing. What I had to
end up doing was swap out the power supply from another dell I had.
This is the only way i was able to resolve the issue. I would suggest
contacting Dell support before jumping to conclusions, however.
 
Thanks Shaffer for the quick response. My PC is out of warrenty and I
do have another Dell which I seldom use, so I can try the swap. Will
let you know how it goes.
 
You suggestion worked just fine, it was indeed the power supply.
