just recently the power switch led (antec 450w power / gigabyte 965 -
ds3p mb) has started to remain on after shut down. everything is 'off',
eg mouse, monitor, keyboard etc.,. however, the fan on the cpu turns
occasionally (e6600, standard fan), and simply pressing the switch turns
everything back on....

i haven't experienced anything else untoward, and have take to turning
the pc off from the backplane mains switch overnight.

i'm not too distressed, but would like to know what might be causing
this problem....

Please check in the Control Panel Power Options "applet" and make sure
that you have not "activated" stand-by instead. Some PCs can be set
so that the "front" mounted switch is set to send your PC into "power"
stand-by mode, where when you press the switch again, softly,
everything would start-up.

Have you checked the BIOS to see if Boot from Network is on? How
about checking if you have plugged it in the right way round? Sounds
like it is suspending rather than shutting down?
checked bio's. they're ok. standard cable so i don't see how it could be
the wrong way around.

i think you're right that it's suspending, but it's not set to do that
in settings?

thanks

have done - not set, though it is behaving as if 'suspended' - but
there's nothing in the settings anywhere to show it's set for 'suspend'?
