Windows XP Power / Speaker icons

Hi,

I am having trouble with the power & speaker icons in the taskbar, first i saw that they wern't there, so i went into control pannel and the 'show icon in taskbar' was ticked so i un checked it closed the computer down and checked it again, the icons came up.

Next time turned my pc on, they were gone again.

I need the power icon to tell me how much battery i have left, how do i get it up to stay?

Yeah, This problem seems to be getting better, as in they only dissaper every other re-start!
 
if you right click on the taskbar and bring up the properties uncheck the hide inactive icons box
 
the Speaker one is allways therem but the power one i annoying me!

Could it be a bug in SP2?
 
it could be but i dont have a laptop so can't say, try a google search
