My computer seems to have lost the ability to save different Power-saving
schemes. No matter what I do only one will be saved.
I have had a lot of trouble with various things because of the drivers of an
Intuos 2 (Wacom) pad. The updated driver has stopped the continual turning
on and off of the hard drive in Standby mode but I still can't save more
than one power-saving scheme.
Is there some way I can restore the appropriate software for this, perhaps
from my original XP disc?

Hi there,

I had exactly this problem a while ago. Follow the
instructions on this Gateway site and things should go
back to normal.

http://support.gateway.com/s/issues/1-708807845.shtml

Follow the instructions very carefully. They deal with
the registry, so make a backup of your registry before
you make any changes. To do this, go to Start->Run and
type in "regedit" (without quotations). Click on File-
Export and save the file to a safe location (if you have
a separate partition, save it there). If anything goes
haywire after you've made the changes, just browse to the
file and double-click on it to restore your registry to
it's previous state. You will need to reboot to notice a
difference after you've restored the registry.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Thanks Nick,
This was just what I wanted except that when I got to the relevant point in
the Registry I discovered that I had no keys numbered 0-5! So I couldn't
delete the others (of which I had twenty) leaving the keys 0-5.

Can anybody give me instructions as to how to create new keys in there?

I mean if I create a new key and make the string number 0 and then rename
it would the hexadecimal automatically be correct? Would it work?

I am willing to try. I have no worries about screwing up the Registry as I
have the super little ERNDT program if I make a mistake.
