I upgraded my computer to windowsxp, my power point program is not working. I downloaded my office 200 again and still not able to open any of my projects previous done on power point.

can anyone tell what is the problem. thanks.

What version of Office do you have? You said 200, but that must be a typo and
could mean 2000, 2002, or 2003. Did you do a regular install, or did you do a
custom install? You can put the CD back in the drive, run setup.exe and select
"Add/Remove Features" and make sure that PowerPoint is in the list and that it
is checked as installed. If you don't see PowerPoint in the list, could it be
that you have the Small Business Edition of Office? Maybe you have a separate
CD for PowerPoint?

You say that you upgraded to Windows XP. What version of Windows did you
previously have? Did you perform an upgrade, or a new install of Windows XP?

I had windows 98, in which I had power point, I upgraded to windows xp pro. I reinstalled microsoft office 2000/small bussiness, in which I did not see power point.
I have files off power point but when I tried to open them, computer states need to intall power point program. thanks.

Office 2000 Small Business Edition does not include PowerPoint. You must have
installed the full version of PowerPoint when you had Windows 98. Office 2000
SBE did not qualify for the PowerPoint upgrade version as I recall. If you
don't have the CD for PowerPoint and you don't have the install key, I don't
know what you can do. You could check eBay to see if you can buy a licensed
copy, but be sure that you purchase the *full standalone* version of PowerPoint
.. Alternatively you could look for the regular version of Office (2000 or 2002)
that includes PowerPoint.

Thank you for your response. I would like to ask you I also tried to download power point from office pro with front page but it does not let me install by custom nor full version. the code it gives is D:/files/pffles/msoffice/office10/setup.hlp, do I have to uninstall office2000/small businness or what?

What Sonia said re the PowerPoint program and your machine.

If you only need to view the PPT files, not edit or create them, you can
download and install a PPT Viewer. Check
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00153.htm for links to the various
Viewers.

You should be able to install PPT via custom install from the Office Pro CD
without having to uninstall the Small Business Edition. "Does not let me
install" covers a lot of ground, though, so I have no idea what's happening.
It could be that the Office Pro is an upgrade version so it's looking for a
qualifying product.

The "code" you give is not an error message -- it's a Help file for Setup.
Perhaps there is information in that Help file which explains what's
happening on your end.

Although it shouldn't be necessary, it may be easier to just uninstall SBE
and install Office Pro if the Pro version is a full version, not an upgrade.

I'm struggling to understand if you are the original poster and are adding
info to the thread; or if you are simply posting about your own situation,
but it's shown as a response to a different question; or if you have also
posted as Sidra Khan, because your problem seems the same as Sidra's, and
that question was posted just 6 minutes before this one.

Not having an Office installation CD severely limits the troubleshooting
steps you can perform when you have problems running various office
applications. It also severely limits our ability to suggest options when
you haven't explained what the problem actually is.

Finally, since you're having difficulty with Excel, Word and Access
(presumably in addition to trouble with PowerPoint), I'm curious as to how
you ended up posting in the PowerPoint newsgroup instead of one of the
Office newsgroups. Please understand that this isn't a flame; I'm genuinely
curious.

I really need this question answered I have the Dell inspiron 1525 it only
has the power point viwer I bought power point upgrade will that work on my
lab top

No, you will need the full version of PowerPoint. The upgrade only
applies to a previous regular version of PowerPoint. The free Viewer
cannot use the upgrade to become the full version.
