Hi

I am trying to import video / movie files int a slide
presentation and follow the directions from the help
pages; insert, object, media clip, create new (select a
*.avi file), insert clip, video for windows.

The window is inserted in my slide and the audio plays
but there is no display (the window is filled with red
diagonal stripes and the message "Video not available.
cannot find 'vids:mjpg'decompressor.

Would appreciate any help as I've tried to find it on the
web and reloaded Power Point.

Thanks for the assistance but it did not work.
Changed it to all three extension and got an error
message about the software required to run this file was
not loaded.

The movie file came from my Cannon IXUS 400 digital
camera which takes short video clips.

Found the problem thanks.

Your advice was spot on!

I had Quicktime on the computer but was not using it, yet
it was bringing error messages "qttask.exe disc not
loaded ect.." every time I opened a movie file (it was
not selected as the default media player either).

There was another message about the Prefetch directory
(which meant nothing to me).

All too hard, so I uninstalled Quicktime, changed the
movie file extensio from .avi to .mpg and installed them
as objects on the slides and it works!

Thanks

Murray

Thanks for reporting back. The extra snippet about quicktime also helps.

I've long held the view to stear clear of quicktime if you want movies to
play in powerpoint OK.
