Which transition(s) are you using? PPT itself has no way to change the
speeds of the transitions. In that respect, Keynote is way more
flexible.
With PPT2007, it is very easy to use layout masters to create
animations that work like transitions but with more control over the
speeds. I am in the process of exploring replacing the
fade-through-black transition with such animations. The problem in the
past with animations has been that if you are using manual animations,
you did not automatically advance to the next slide without an extra
click. The work-around has been to duplicate the slide and place the
last animation on the extra slide and have it transition to the next
slide. Can get very complicated if you need to update content.
What I recently discovered was that Chirag's animation add-in has a
setting that does auto-transition after the last animation is
complete. It's making me very happy, and I'm in the process of trying
to convince several groups that they can finally replace their ancient
system to get better control over fade speeds without making it too
complicated. The add-in can be found here:
