Hi
I think this may beat you all, but.....
I need to run PP presentations whilst simultaneously taking 'verbatim' notes of issues raised per slide - using ONE computer - AND then linking the notes to the specific slides
My problem is that I have tried to do this by minimizing the PP screen and filling in the notes box, but this tends to stop the flow of discussion as delegates keep requesting that the PP slide being discussed be maximised to remind them of various details.
So my request is, is there anyone who knows a way in which I could put up a PP slide, then keep it fully visible via projector on the screen, whilst I type responses (in Word, Excel whatever...) on my laptop ?
Many, many thanks in advance for any response - (other than "get another computer" !

Maybe...

Alt-tab and Word, running in a small window that occupies a small part of
the entire screen, might work. The bulk of the slide will always be visible,
and a quick Alt-Tab throws the text editor into the background or
foreground.

You could make the Word window short and wide, and turn off all the menus,
rulers, status bar and all that other screen gar-bahge, which allows you to
make Word even smaller.

Your computer video card needs to be capable of creating an extended
desktop. While the presentation is in show mode (shown through the
projector), the computer can be in edit mode. The key will be to create your
presentation with a blank slide after each slide. While the presentation
shows the slide being discussed, you can go to the next slide, type in your
notes and when ready click the 'resume show' button and advance to your
newly filled in slide that has the notes you just typed. (Also, at the end
of the presentation, be sure to save or save as to keep all of your newly
created slides).

You could right-click on your slide and select "Speaker Notes", moving the
dialog off to the side somewhat, type your info, close the box, go to the
next slide, and repeat. Remember to save the presentation. Of course this
doesn't work well if you already have entered information into the Notes
pages of slides because they will appear when you open the box.

The Speaker Notes box is how I capture comments from my class (feedback on a
particular slide).

And also the 'Meeting Minder ...' option.

You would have to type a note to yourself re: the slide number, but it isn't
a bad option otherwise. Just remember to export the text to word for
further editing.

Hello Peter,

The current set of presenter tools (tools for the presenter to use while
delivering a slide show) are somewhat limited in this regard.

For PowerPoint 2002 and 2003 the primary presenter tools are included in
Presenter View. For more information see the online help topic "Presenter
View: Tools for running a PowerPoint presentation":

http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/preview.aspx?AssetID=HA010565471033&C
TT=1&Origin=EC010229731033&QueryID=oKS45r--b0

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to how
PowerPoint's presenter tools (such as Presenter View in PowerPoint 2002 and
2003) might be improved to support this scenario, don't forget to send your
feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Just as an aside, I'm pretty sure Meeting Minder was removed in PPT
2003.
