Power options setup

I want to be able to access my computer remotely, but I don't want the
computer to be on constantly. My plan was to use Power Options to shut the
computer down when it is idle, but I only have the option of Standby or
Hibernate. Neither of these options is viable because I need the computer to
connect automatically to the internet, which I can only achieve after a full
startup.

My question is - is it possible to configure Windows to automatically
Shutdown. And if not - why not???
