I would like to change the power options properties on a
windows 2000 workstation
I changed it under administrator but are not able to
change it for the users

- how can i change it so that all users use the power
option or how do I give the rights to the user so that
they can change it

thanks for your help

Follow the istructions here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;305709&Product=win2000

When you create the new account, you HAVE to make it an
administrative account to change the power settings.
Before copying the profile to default user, change the
account back to user rights only.

After completing this you must delete all user profiles in
C:\Documents and Settings before any previously logged on
users log on again.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your help.
the problem I have is that users are login via a domain
(2003 Server)
so I can not work with local user rights.
is there any other way to changes power options?

thanks

Urs

Sorry for the late reply.

Even though your users are logging onto the domain, any
settings not defined in group policy ie power settings,
will be drawn from the default user profile on the local
machine. Follow the instructions in the previous post, and
the domain users will pick up this local power setting.

I run 350+ clients on our school network, and all the 2500
domain users pick up their power settings from
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User for the client they
are currently working on.
