Power options in Group Policy

I have several laptop users that need to have their computer in an "always
on" state - no screen saver / hibernation at all. Users do not have access
to the power options on the screen saver tab of the display options. In
order for me to give them access I 've been forced to add their account to
the "power users" local group. I would rather not do this - thus the
question: Is there a way to give users access to the power settings through
Group Policy without making them a member of "power users"?

Thanks in advance

Don

I don't believe so - and standard users don't have the necessary rights to
change the power options anyway. You need to change the permissions on the
following registry keys in order to allow them the ability to change the
power options (through the control panel).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls
Folder\PowerCfg

It looks like this will do the trick. I was really wanting a GP solution,
but this'll work! You sage advise is much appreciated!

Hello Don,

I am glad to hear the information is helpful!

In addition, if you run "powercfg.cpl" (without the quotation marks), you
will start the "power option" too.

Have a nice day!

Thanks and regards,
