Hi all,
I have very strange changes in my Control Panel -> Power
Option Property folder. All schemes just vanished.I still
have a screen savers but nor of any power schemes.
Try to look in newsgroup, but look like only my computer
has this problem.
Any idea to how to fix this?

Ed.

This happened to me a few days ago this what i did to fix it

first try open the attached file, you can open it in notepad if you think
its suspicious to see what it is, its just a reg file with the default power
schemes
should ask if you want to add the information in ..............powercfg.reg
click yes, check to see if the power schemes has returned. if this hasn't
worked then try this

Open regedit
goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\
delete PowerPolicies, this will remove all power schemes including custom
ones
open the attached file, should ask if you want to add the information in
...............powercfg.reg
click yes, this will restore the default power schemes
should have power schemes back

lets us know how you get on

* if for some reason you can open the attachment do this then
open notepad
copy the text between the dashes(not including the dashes)
paste into notepad and then save it as powercfg.reg to your desktop and use
this, its the same as the attachment

BRILLIANT-FIX this worked beautifully on my SONY VAIO
NV109M. Which was driving me to distraction. Perhaps Sony
technical would do well to take note - perhaps you could
charge them for a change!!! Thanks a million
