Hi:

I have a Toshiba desktop and everything was working fine and lost internet
dial-up connection. Rebooted and desktop screen came back, but cursor was
locked in the upper left hand portion of screen. Computer at this point was
totally
locked up. I turned the power source for the computer off, as everything at
this point was locked up.

Upon turning the power source to the computer back on and hitting the
Power Button to turn on the computer the Green light comes on for a second
and then goes off. I can hear the fan and computer still running inside, but
cannot get desktop screen back or monitor to come back on. I have the
monitor turned on, but nothing is displayed. I also placed a Floppy in the
A drive and rebooted and nothing happens. It sounds as it's reading the
Floppy, but nothing happens. I have a Start-Up disk, but it's not presently
where my computer is located.

had gone out, but then I can hear the
computer running, The Green light that comes on briefly when first turning
on the computer goes back out and I have nothing on the monitor. Have tried
turning the power source on and then the computer, but am getting the same
results each time as described above. Also have plugged power cord directly
into wall outlet and nothing appears.

Only thing that I can think of at the moment is possibly the Mother Board
is
malfunctioning.

Thanks

Not a Windows problem. Take the computer to a technician/repair shop.

I would suspect a hard drive failure. Similar thing happened to my
Daughters Toshiba. First the performance started to slow down and then a
total failure to boot. Easy fix if you have your recovery disks that came
with the laptop. What you maybe hearing is fans, possibly. Notice if the
hard drive light is actually blinking when loading.

Did you replace the hard drive and then run the recovery or was the current
hard drive OK to run the recovery?

Thanks
