Is there a good documentation to find out what each of the power standby
options S2, S3 etc stand for and how to use them.. I read some documentation
about XPE_Standby that uses S3 by default, but how do I change the defaults
and what do they mean.

Thanks,

Thanks for the input, these references were really helpful, but I still have
my question unanswered..
I want to be able to use these options and do a system standby... Currently
I can just go to power options and go to standby (using
start->shutdown->standby).. But how do I specify which standby standby
option, i.e. using S2 or S3 ?? Is there a way of writing an application
that can do that... What library or DLL am I supposed to use.. I'd
appreciate any feedback on this issue...

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
AS.

But if you are serious then start reading from: Power Management

march/pwrmgmt_48br.asp

Does this helps?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/power/base/
setsystempowerstate.asp

Also read whole section on Power Management.
