Are you logged on as a member of the administrator group? Adjustments of
this type need administrative status to be changed.

If you're using an admin account and still do not see the power options,
check to see if the computer is enabled for power management. To do this:
right click on My Computer and select Properties. This will bring up the
System Properties control panel. On the Hardware page, click the Device
Manager button. Under Computer, what is shown as your computer type? If you
see "Standard Computer" the system and Windows has not been setup to use
power management. If you see something other than Standard Computer, what
is the exact text?

Hi Sharon,
I am the administrator.
Under Computer in the Hardware I see this
"ACPI Unprocessor PC"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, then... more questions:
--Is this system a member of domain? If yes, power management options may
be blocked by the network administrator.
--If this is a laptop, there may be a third party control panel for power
options. Open Control Panel and switch to "classic view" by clicking on the
link. Look for a separate power management program. If not found, check
programs listed in Start> Programs carefully.
If this is an older system, do you have an APM tab? If yes, click on that
and check the box to enable power options. May need to log off/log on for
the change to take effect.
--Do you have trouble performing other administrative tasks?
--Have you disabled any services?
--How much RAM is installed on your system?
--How much free space is available on your C: drive?
--What version of XP - x86 or 64-bit? (To determine this, press Start,
click Run and type in winver. If you have 64-bit, the screen that appears
will state this. If no mention is made of 64-bit, then you have the x86
version.) XP Home or XP Pro?
--Has this worked before? If yes, what changed between then and now? New
hardware? New programs? New drivers?
--Are you using current drivers for your hardware? XP will not offer
options if it does not deem all drivers suitable for standby/hibernate.

No problem, Al. Always glad to try and help where I can. Even more glad
when someone posts back and mentions what fixed their issue! Thanks for
doing that. :)
