Hi All,
Just purchased a wireless rechargable mouse & keyboard. When the
pc powers down the USB outlets power down as well , hence the mouse won't
recharge overnight. How can the USB's be left active with the pc shut down
for the night? I've tried to hibernate but this doesn't work.
I've a Soltek SL-NV 400-64 motherboard and in the manual there is a mention
of HDD Power Down.

Many thanks.

Get a USB hub with power supply.

You don't say *which* model you have, but mine has a "wall-wart"
that powers the recharger/cradle. Does yours? What make/model?

Sorry about that. It's a Sumvision SV - 0628C. The kit has a 3 button
rechargable mouse and a keyboard running on normal alkaline batteries.
The docking station only has a USB connection, which is fine whilst I'm
using the keyboard as I can recharge the mouse. As I use the mouse more than
the keyboard the mouse gets very little chance to charge. It seems crazy to
run the pc just to charge the mouse.
Cheers.

I'll say! Not familiar with the Sumvision. But your situation makes
the "wall-wart" on my Logitech more logical. It charges all night
with the computer OFF.

Some USB devices remain "live" even when the computer is powered down
through the +5vsb output of the PSU (which stays ON even when the
computer is powered down.) Are you sure this is not the case?

No , unfortunately.Once the pc is powered down or in standby the USB outlets
switch off. I've had a look in the motherboard handbook and there's nothing
in there allowing the USB's to stay on.
Going back to the mouse & keyboard , I guess this is what you get when you
buy at the lower end of the market. To be honest I never asked the dealer
about the recharging situation.

Pick up a powered USB hub... That should stay powered up when the PC is off.
