I have always used the "Power Management" of that other OS, not just to save power on my PC but to save wear-n-tear on the likes of the HD.
So, is there an alternative GUI ...
over using the Konsole's "hdparm [ flags ] [device] .."
I'm still using Suse 10, haven't broken it yet, and was looking through all its power management schemes and don't seem to have one for HDs.
As it is not a laptop I turned off/disabled KPowersave as it too did not have anything to do with the Hard Drive.
I'm not adverse to using "hdparm -s" just wondered if some bright spark had produced a GUI for the task.
mucks.
