Power management /hibernate problems

I have a desktop running win2k sp4 and it ran fine until
recently. I was able to set the power management to any
values and it worked. Now, I can only hibernate if I set
the time interval to 5 minutes or less, or push the power
button, which is set to hibernate. I have tried to set
various bios parameters and to re-install sp4, but no help.
I have not been able to find anything remotely like this
on either Microsoft's site or on the web. Any ideas or
suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
