I have a 1.7 gHz running XP, with a home network set up,
and internet access through a network switch.

Every time our power goes out while I am on the internet,
when the computer reboots, I no longer can attach to the
internet. This only happens with Windows XP. I have an
old pentium running 98, and it does not have this problem.

I have a laptop I can use to check all the connections, and
everything is fine with the hardware. I feel it is just a
screwed up driver or part of the registry, but I cannot
find exactly where it is.

For the forth time now since January, I will have to re-
install Windows and all my programs from scratch.

Repairing Windows from the CD does not do the trick, it
has to be a full re-installation.

Help.

I found the answer on this newsgroup.

Restore to an earlier setup, then follow Microsoft
bulletin 329441 - delete these two entries, and everything
is fixed (so far) !!!

If power outages are a way of life, you might invest in a Universal
Power Supply (UPS) that will provide enough bckup power for you to shut
down your computer in the event of a failure.
