Is there a problem with this board? I posted a message on the 21st and had a
reply and not cannot find it. Posted again last night and that message I
cannot find. It was in regards to the Blue E on desktop (did a search and
got nothing)

Your post is shown on the 21st. You have had two replies to it and you
also replied yourself.

Regards,
Emrys Davies

what am I doing wrong? I looked down all the posts on the 21st and do not
see either my original one that I know an MVP replied to and the second one I
posted because I could not find the first. Is there any way for me to search
for all the posts under my sign on? Thank You

Hi Old Bob :-)

How are you accessing the newsgroups? Are you using the Outlook Express
that is with Internet Explorer, or are you accessing through the Internet?

If you wish to use Outlook Express, here is how to set it up.

First...

Read here how to setup Outlook Express as your default newsreader
http://www.ieinfosite.co.uk/tip_view.asp?id=23
http://grc.com/configOE.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098

Next......

Create New Identity:

Your identity may be damaged. Try creating a new identity, add your
account(s) to it and if all works well, you can import your messages
from the problem identity, then delete it at some later date.
when all seems well, use file>import to get your mail from the old ID into
the new ID before deleting the old.

Then....

How to set up an MS newsgroup

In OE go to Tools>Accounts>Add (or New)>News.
Set up an account for this news server:

msnews.microsoft.com

Scroll down the list to the groups you want to subscribe to and then click
Subscribe. When done, click OK

The server is free and does not require you to logon. This news server
carries over 2200 newsgroups related to Microsoft products and keeps
messages at least 30 days.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

I look via the internet only. When I do find a message from Old Bob I can
click on the name and it brings up a box that tells me how many times I have
posted. To search, I go to the top of this box where it says to look for
posts by Old Bob. I get the posting from today that I am responding to now
but I do not get the posting of the 21st. I also scan down the list manually
for all the posts on the 21 and do not see it there.

Headers say Web access......

If you're not behind a restrictive firewall, why? A dedicated Newsreader
such as Outlook Express or Free Agent is FAR superior to web access.

No sure what the problem might be, but, it is not uncommon for such things
to happen when using the Internet access to the newsgroups. I know how it
goes, I used the Internet access when I first started using the Internet
several years ago, and it was a mess, then one of the kind MVP's suggested
that I use the OE. Been there ever since. Gordon is right, you are much
more secure using OE or other newsreaders than the Internet, and have better
control over how you work with them as well. You might think about using
one of the other newsreaders instead. For your better protection. :-)

Hope this helps
