The secret to not getting shouted at for spending to much time on the PC is to always have a page ready to jump to with a site on that has some form of gift for the other half..When you hear her coming, quickly switch to the page and tell her you might be looking for something special for her...Works for me everytime...

Yeah that does kinda throw a spanner in the works....

You got a 24" monitor. Set it up with half scrolling through some gift catalogue or such like and half with your stuff. Then every now and again mutter very nice, oh yes that looks good, whilst carrying on with the important stuff in life.
