Epona,
I am truly sorry if I offended you-I have just been really frustrated
with these problems. I have spent probably 30-40 hours this week
trying to get this resolved including fornmatting the hard drive at
least 8 times, and reinstalling XP even more than that. Had numerous
errors on reinstall but finally got a supposedly clean one. I took a
chill pill and again-I apologize-its just that my first post today
was early this morning and about 12 hours later when I did the second
one. Meanwhile, everybody else had been answered and I guess I just
got frustrated. I am so close but yet so far-its so weird that just
the display properties comes up-and if I change themes-then all the
tabs appear-but when I click apply-and then check it-its back to the
display properties but without tabs. I know that the Nvidia card
caused this-but I can't seem to get rid of the desktop manager that
is installed along with the drivers. Anyway-I really do appreciate
how helpful everybody has been-I just need to have more patience to
get to the bottom of this.
Erm, it isn't me you should be apologising to - it's Kelly, Carey, Jupiter,
et al who've assisted you previously. I was merely outraged on their behalf
that you should state you were being ignored when folk have gone out of
their way to be helpful and accommodating.
You have to remember that these people are *not* employed by MS, and do not
spend 24/7 answering questions, they have other lives (Kelly, for example,
has a large family to look after). When you post something you need to have
a little bit more patience - 12 hours really isn't long enough. This group
propagates all over the world - I assume you're in the US, but I'm in the UK
so, depending on where in the States you are, there could be as much as an
8-hour time difference - when you start work at 9am people over here are
just coming home and thinking about supper, helping with homework, bathtime,
reading stories and putting the kids to bed. The last thing anyone wants to
be doing when they've just come back from a day at the office is sitting in
front of their computer (unless it's as a means of relaxation and
recreation).
So, please, have a bit more consideration for those who help - it makes us
more willing to assist in future...
*I* wasn't offended, but Kelly clearly was (and I reckon Carey and Jupiter
would have been to if they'd seen this).
So please, patience really *is* a virtue...you scratch our backs...
Saying you've been ignored really isn't conducive to having anyone assist
you in the future.
As the advert goes - have a break, have a KitKat (insert name of favourite
chocolate bar here).
With warmest wishes,
Epona
