Thanks to those who responded to my questions about slipstreaming
SP1/2. I have three questions following a repair install on a new
hard drive that I had imaged:

-- My Documents is opening on startup. Where can that be stopped? I
don't see it in msconfig or startup folder.

-- Downloading SP2, IE updates, etc., seems to have set IE as my default
browser. Where can that be turned off?

-- Is there a way, short of going application by application, to figure
which programs are still using the old hard drive, which is still
attached? I went to reformat it, but got a message that some apps are
using it.

Thanks,
Gene

Hi Gene,

Line 255, on the right there is a fix for this.

Control Panel/Add & Remove, click on "Set program access and defaults".

No way short of going through each program.

Thanks, Rick. The first (My Docs) worked. I use Sylpheed for email -
you probably haven't heard of it - and after the changes (Custom) it
still opens 'default browser' as IE instead of Opera, which it did
before. I've never set a default browser generally (in the browser
itself).

Hi,

Are you saying that links in the email program open IE instead of Opera? If
that's the case, I would check the email program's settings. And you're
right, I know nothing of Sylpheed.

I'm having another problem. WMP 10 won't start "due to an internal
error." It won't roll back (don't see an entry to uninstall
completely). I found a site that mentioned eliminating some "Windows
Media Files" subkeys from the FriendlyName in the registry and
then reinstalling 10, but reinstallation failed (per message). I tried
loading 9, but that won't install or play either (and I can't find where
to uninstall it). Any ideas? Thanks.

I should add that when running the cursor over wmplayer.exe (and other
application files in the WMP folder) it shows as v.10, but on starting
wants to install v.9. The shortcuts do the same now.
