Is there anyone out there besides myself who have had a positive expierience
with vista? I have Vista Premium with a Pentium D 805, 2 gigs ram, 2 gigs
ready boost, 256 radeon x300 all on a Abit AW8D mobo. Im not much of a
gamer on my PC so thats not an issue though I was able to get Unreal GOLD to
run just fine with no problems whatsoever.

I did run into some issues with running certain ftp programs and other such
software but vistas built-in ftp works just fine so i don't need those
programs anyways. Also, I found that some programs run into errors when i
first try to install them such as the ABit Uguru OC feature but I found that
if I navigate to the setup file and choose to run the setup in compatability
mode for XP then it had no further problems.

BTW if you don't like the UAC turn it off. don't need it anyways.

Is this like a trick question ?

I don't exactly care for Vista (it's a personal taste thing), but from a
gamer's perspective, it's been fairly smooth for me. This is one time, being
an ATI owner has definately paid for itself. I mostly play under Vista 64,
since it's suppose to be more challenging than Vista32.

So far, everything I play, Plays. I haven't run into anything that is a
showstopper so I guess my gaming experience has been fine. Stalker is the
only game that has much slower performance under Vista than XP, but I'm sure
a few more patched with fix that.

No problems here with Ultimate 32 bit on a stock Dell Inspiron 9300 (Pentium
M 1.73GHZ, 2GB RAM, 256MB nVidia GeForce Go 6800). I've tried a couple of
the newer graphics games and they run fine. It's a little slower than XP but
overall pretty much a pleasant experience with Vista so far.

Note: From what I've read, the ReadyBoost offers no benefit if you have 2GB
or more of RAM.

As for me Vista has been great....The games I play all run smooth and
fast,,Games are mostly simulators such as RFactor and GTR2 as well as the
original GTR FIA...I also run flight simulator X...My hardware for my games
are the Logitech G25 racing wheel as well as Saitek's X52 flight control
system....Currently running Vista Business 64 with an Intel core2 duo
6600,,A Intel D975XBX2 Bad Axe motherboard ,,4gigs of DDR2 800 Kingston
HyperX as well as temporarily a Nvidia 7900GS 256 video card..When Ati
releases there DX10 cards I will probably run 2 of them in a crossfire setup
and 1 physics card as this board supports 3 cards...All other software and
applications run great as well....As I have said in other posts....Vista
rocks !!!

I haven't had any complaints with Vista yet, aside from UAC. Once that was
turned off, it's proven to be a very stable OS...provided you are running
the recommended specs.
I've upgraded my work computer, home computer and even laptop to the various
Vista flavors.

Yes on machines ranging from a:

Core 2 Duo w/ 2GB of RAM, down to a 1Ghz Athlon Thunderbird w/ 512MB of RAM.
The only slight hiccups were due to nVidia drivers on my Tablet PC which
I've now worked my way around most of the issues.
I did run into some issues with running certain ftp programs

I use SmartFTP, not had any problems with it.

I strongly disagree with this. People *do need* UAC and it should be kept
on in the vast majority of cases.

Just take the recent cursor vulnerability. On Windows Vista with IE7 and
UAC on, it is not effected, with UAC off, it is effected. UAC is not just
an annoying prompt. Applications should not be allowed access to the whole
box.

I'm running Ultimate 64 on an Athlon X2 5200 w/2Gb of 6400 and Crossfire
1600 Pros. Boot times are up, but smooth runnings so far. I've tried 4 games
so far dating back as far as Dx7, and had no real problems. Not finding a
decent X-fi driver has been depressing, but everything else is hunky-dory.

Hi Joshua

I have VHP, and overall its fine I have no problems with it virtually
everything I want to install, installs with no problems. It is more a case
of little niggly things like having to set up filters for my various e-mail
addresses, and the same for the NG's. And how favourites is either open and
pinned or closed, unlike previously when I could have favourites set to open
when I placed the cursor on the left hand side of the screen.

It is just those things that I find annoying otherwise it does what I want
it to do.

Yours Chris
