Hi,

If it is just the CPU then I can try and find a replacement or upgrade
and that would be the best! If it's the MOBO, then obviously might as
well get a replacement eMachine for my wife.

Is it possible to tell if a MB is bad? If the CPU is bad?

Thanks,

when it is switched on - does the PS fan start and beeps
from the machine?

if no try a replacement PS, don't have to fit just coonect
up from outside the case, make sure adequate wattage

another PS (ps fan starts) is there power to the MB, cpu fan
start and does it boot from HD?

if power but no boot

can you boot into the bios or can you boot using a cd or
floppy boot disk

What problems are you having....Usually its the memory controller that
fails,even with 4 slots if 1 goes,the others follow.Its a simple
test,download
the tester at:http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp Download,then extract
to a formatted MS-DOS floppy, boot to the floppy.I believe you can run in a cd
also..

None of the above! We ended up buy a mid-range HP to replace it.
Which was a good thing as it was time to move on.

Thanks!
