possible virus trouble

I have just posible got re of a ms blasterworm, i was wondering if anyone out there might now of a way for me to double check to make sure it is gone. but while im bothering you I am also have very slow preformance with my pc. (for example)
if i go to start - programs - it lags very badly. Any info you might be able to give me will be extreamly appretiated. to help out I am running windows xp home.
