possible virus inside update

Prior to running the Windows update service I ran norton
antivirus and it did not detect any viruses. After I
downloaded/installed the Win2000Pro SP4 patch norton
antivirus detected the w32.blaster.worm and after I
downloaded/installed the IE 6 patch norton antivirus
detected the w32.welchia.worm. I find it very unsettling
that these viruses may have been contained in the updates
themselves.
 
These viruses are not contained in the windows updates.
Your computer was missing the patch to stop theses
virueses and while you were downloading the updates they
got on your computer. Also to be more correct these are
not viruses they are worms which means you do not have to
download or run anything you simply have to connect to the
internet with an unpatched computer.
