I believe this may be something that I downloaded from
Kazaa.

I can access the web by clicking from one link to another,
but that can be quite limiting. When I physically type in
a web address, the status bar at the bottom of the page
informs me that it is "opening page http//some porn
website that i have never visited/php+search&id=www.the
website that i typed in.

Very long pause.

Then I'm taken to the msn search not found page at which
point I can usually get to where I wanted to be by
clicking one of the suggested links.

I have purged all of my cookies, temp files, history and
reset my internet options. Scanned with Norton and
quarrantined two files. Nevertheless, the problem
persists. Also, my home page is always reset to another
porn site that I've never been to, which launches an
unending series of pop-ups if I don't click 'stop' quickly
enough after launching.

I'd love to hear some suggestions.

Hi Christopher,

KaZaa is evil. And Gator, too.

The link below is to PestPatrol. It is very easy to use, FREE, and ad-free.
It works GREAT at removing and preventing the installation of, spyware,
keyboard trackers, adware, and memory-resident spies.

Some recommend ad-aware... but I like this one a lot more.

Get Rid of Kazaa!
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/kazaabegone.zip

Run your pre-installed virus scanner.

Kazaa is *loaded* with Spyware -

Removal Tool, your choice, novice users, Lavasoft's Ad-aware,
http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/new/privacy___security/aaw6181.exe
Lavasoft/Ad-aware home: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
Mirror site: http://www.lavasoft.de/

Advanced users, SpyBot Search & Destroy,
http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su1669/spybotsd12.exe

SpyBot home: http://security.kolla.de/
SpyBot How-To: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

Install either but both are not necessary, reboot, read FAQ and overview, use
online update feature to obtain the latest reference files, scan for Spyware
much like you would with your pre-installed anti-virus scanner.
Rid your machine of unwanted Spyware pests.

PestPatrol is NOT free. The download is an evaluation copy only and
will not remove the pests. It will only identify if you have any pests.
See http://pestpatrol.com/Downloads/Eval/DownloadHomeEvalNew.asp where
it says, "The evaluation version of PestPatrol will identify pests on
your system, but the functionality to remove pests is disabled."
Ad-aware and Spybot are free and fully functional.

Thank You Vanguard,

I stand corrected.... Thanks for pointing it out, too. I wouldn't want to
give out bad info.

Hopefully he'll come back and read these replies.

Doesn't change that PestPatrol rocks all over Ad Aware. :o)

Having the exact same problem/issue...I need to know how
to correct this problem as well. Everytime I run Norton I
get new viruses/trojans.

Unless your installation of Norton is totally corrupt that is impossible.

What is your *real* problem? Are you running Kazaa as well or another MP3
file-share client? More details please.
