I have received a email stating that the file name
jdbgmgr.exe is a virus that will damage system if file
sits quietly for 14 days and Norton or McAfee will not
detect this. The email gives instructions on how to delete
this files. I found two files on my system named
jdbgmgr( with a teddy bear in front of the name) and
symantec security response jdbgmgr.exe file hoax. I did a
properties on these file and the first one says it is
microsoft debugger registrar for Java created 7/24/02, the
second file says internet shortcut created 5/28/02. Can
you tell me what this file jdbgmgr is for. It does not
seem to me that this is a virus file. So I suspect this
email is misleading a lot of people to delete these files.
What does this file do? Can anyone help me?

Carol,

Yes this is a hoax. If you do a search thru google for
the "jdbgmgr.exe" file you can read more than you ever
wanted to know about it. It's supposed to be there and in
fact has a teddy bear associated with it.

The email you received is dangerous only if you follow the
instructions to delete the file.

Hope this helps, HAnk
