I think I have a video card going bad.

the system hangs when I run any high def screen saver
or the monitor goes blurry, a reboot resolves the issue
for a time, till the SS kicks in.
I have downloaded the newest video drivers from nvida
and installed, still the same problem.

I have switched to shutting off the monitor instead of SS

Possibly the SS is taxing your CPU, and
something's overheating.

Or, your card is taxing the PSU.

Check your fans (all of them), clean out the crud.

Here is what makes it complicated, or at least makes me
think it's the video card.
I've been running the Same SS for at least a month, no
problems, I've noticed about two weeks ago, the SS would
freeze for a bit, then resume, as you can see the problem
got worse. the SS is a 3d underwater with lots of
fish/bubbles/visual effects etc. although, even one of
the standard w2k SS is now doing the same thing
, the reason I switched to powering off the monitor.

I dusted the machine not too long ago, and took off the
side to inspect, it looks clean , although I didn't look
closly at the VC fan, I will look closer tonight..

Anything in Event Viewer?

Overclocking?

Thanks for trying to help, the video card died over the
weekend, when I open the case I discovered the cooling fan
had frozen, god knows when!!, I removed it and moved a
card to allow for more air, but to no avail, when powered
back up, it completely died, Oh well, these things don't
last forever I guess, I'll have to be more vigilant in
these cooling fans, dang it, that card was only two years
old..

Yeah, and if you DO discover that your vid card fan
is going bad, have fun trying to find a decent (non sleeve bearing)
fan to replace it with...I'm fighting this issue right now, I've
been taking the fan apart and lubing the bearings till I find
a replacement.

Cyberguys looks like they might have one...

Glad you got it sorted.

Yeah I got ya!

I've been looking, fat chance!
best to just replace the card, damn it a $4 dollar fan
goes out, and you have to get a whole new card..
I sent an e-mail to the manufactor, no response yet...
