Hello Everyone,

I am new to Front Page, so bare with me. I have been asked by my supervisor
to investigate the possiblility of having a "Search" located on our web page
that would directly search files that are stored in our shared drive. Can
this be done? And if so, would someone be willing to help walk me through
the process?

You will need to use a script of sort. FP will do it but for a specific
website, not a specific folder.

Check out hotscripts.com for some different search scripts.

Frontpage has a "web search" tool, but it won't search network drives in
general.

The Frontpage search is designed to search a *website*, so if you want
particular files searched these would need to be specifically on your
on the website's server within the web itself.

Add the search to your site, from the Insert, Web Components menu.

Your server needs the FP server extensions installed (since FP is now
discontinued, there is limited support for these).

I think "windows file indexing" on the server needs to be turned on, as
this is how the search works.

I don't know if these points will help or confuse you even more....

Check in the Index Server newsgroup regarding doing this.
