Hi all

Is it possible to run remote desktop through a direct phone link PC to PC

My home and office PCs are both XP PRo SP1 and I am administrator on both. I have read many articles on remote desktop and VPN's, but no one can tell me if remote desktop can be run through a phone line

Very rural area here - long distance from home to office - my only available internet connection is a dialup, and I would rather not leave my non-networked office PC on the net all the time - a dropped dialup connection would kill that link anyways

So can anyone point me to a knowledgebase article, FAQ sheet, or resource that tells how (or if it is possible ?) to run remote desktop through a direct phone line PC link

Or do I need other software? Suggestions are welcome

Thanks!

Yes, you can run RD through a regular phine line. RD uses the Remote
Desktop Protocol(RDP), which works across any TCP/IP connection,
Dial-Up, DSL, WAN, ISDN, VPN, etc.. The sending and recieving computers
will need to have port 3389 open if they are behind a firewall.
