I'm trying to figure out a way to periodically have Outlook 2002
automatically delete everything in the "Deleted Items" folder without
completely exiting the program.

Why do I want to do this? I'm trying to use SpamBayes to delete all
the spams off my Pop3 server but still leave the good messages on
there.

Thanks

Why not open the deleted items folder, highlight the items you want to delete and press delete? There is no need to close the program.

Yes, I'm aware of this option but I'm trying to find a way to do it AUTOMATICALLY.

Set AutoArchive to delete items older than xx days, then set the AutoArchive
interval in Tools | Options | Other | AutoArchive to run AutoArchive every
day.

But won't this also delete my good mail? I only want to delete the
mail that is in the "Deleted Items" folder and I want this to take
place several times per day.

Sue,

I found this article looking at your web site:

http://www.win2000mag.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=15990

Would it be possible to write a macro that would purge only the
"deleted items" folder and then use task scheduler (or something else)
to have this run at certain intervals throughout the day? I know
nothing about visual basic but I have a few friends who should be able
to do this.

Thanks for your help

No. Each folder has its own AutoArchive setting.

Not a macro but a standalone VBScript file.
