I received an e-mail on 9/4/09 from a vendor in Shanghai about an item that
we are looking for, and starting a few days later - when I send e-mails to
people they see Chinese text on my e-mail. Sometimes it appears when they
hit reply to reply to my e-mail. I have tried to translate it through the
online translators, and only some of the words get translated. The words
that do are things like "value", "ribbon", "feet", "carpenter", etc. I have
AVG anti-virus and it says I am protected for e-mails. Any ideas on what is
going on?

I am not sure about the answer to your question, but please check what is
your Default Encoding under Send.
Tools > Options > Send > International Settings. What is your default
encoding ?
I would set it as either Unicode(UTF-8) or Western European (Windows).
