Jim

I've just received an e-mail form (supposedly) E-bay saying my account was
hacked into and I have to click on a url in the e-mail.

Anyone else had this? Sounds like a virus.

No.

It does not sound like a virus, worm or Trojan.

It does sound like a con to access your account to perform nefarious actions or steal money
in some way.

Dave

PS: Don't 'ya think if your going to discuss this email, it would have been a good thing
to post the full header contents of said email in this thread ? Otherwise it is pure
speculation.

No.

Sounds like a virus.

Sounds pretty stupid. It probably nails naive IE users with some sort
of malware. We see them here every day.

Only if you're stupid...

It's a known scam, though this "version" is relatively new (a
week or so ago). Treat is as spam (whatever you do with spam).

now, now... it's not a big leap... a good way to con people is with
social engineering... a good way to con people into executing a virus
is with social engineering... mistake method for intent and take into
account the relative frequency of these things and you see viral
attempts instead of con jobs...
