Possible corrupt cells?

I receive a monthly spreadsheet from another department that I re-sort by
product numbers using a custom sort list.
Recently one of the product numbers was not being recognized so it would be
pushed to the end of the list every time. It also was not recognized when
running a macro.
I found that by "clearing" the cell and re-typing the product number fresh,
it will get picked up and appear at the correct place on the list after
sorting.
(NOT deleting, or cut/pasting or copy/pasting or paste-special value only
none of which work)
This month 4 new product numbers are doing the same thing...so now I clear
them and then retype them too.
The 5th new product number WILL NOT FIX even after I clear it and re-type
it. It is in my custom list in the correct place, but when you refresh the
sort it goes back down to the bottom.
Using Excel 2003

HELP! I have wasted a lot of time on this.

Hi PatG,

Could it be that the offending numbers are seen as text and hence not
recognised? (or the other way around: they are truly numbers and your custom
list is treated as text)

Hi Jan,
Thanks for replying. But no, it doesn't have anything to do with what they
are formatted as...I've tried them all different ways....

Can I send you the spreadsheet?

It seems that your excel file is corrupt. I think you can try a
popular Excel file recovery tool called Advanced Excel Repair to
repair your Excel file. It is a powerful tool to repair corrupt or
damaged Excel files.

Detailed information about Advanced Excel Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aer/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/aer.exe
