Positioning multiple windows

How do we position separate worksheet windows side-by-side vertically (left
and right)? When we select the 'View Side by Side" from the ribbon (View
Tab), the windows are positioned top and bottom with one above the other.
Moreover, we cannot see any way to change this default.

EXCEL 2007...

It works as a toggle button...switching between horizontal and vertical.

If you press it once more it will arrange vertically...

You can also click on 'Arrange All' and choose Vertical...
 
Hi,

Generally if you want to postion multiple windows use the command Window,
Arrange, ...

The only time you need compare is when you want to scroll both windows
simultaniously. In that case choose Window, Compare Side by Side. The
choose the command Window, Arrange, Vertical.
 
Thanks, Shane. Not sure what you mean by 'Compare' since the button says
'View Side by Side' in Excel 2007? The confusion seems to be the
uncertainty of the difference between the 'Arrange All' button and the 'View
Side by Side' button. Are you saying that the 'View Side by Side' button
enables some sort of 'comparison' feature?

Thank you, Sheeloo. That is very interesting, because I pushed the Excel
2007 'View Side by Side' button several times and never observed any
toggling between vertical and horizontal. In my case, it simply toggled
between showing one window or two windows.

However, I do think I have subsequently figured out the behavior. You use
the 'Arrange All' to set the vertical or horizontal alignment and then you
use the 'View Side by Side' to enable or disable the multiple window view.
Does that sound correct?
