Windows XP portugese laptop

hi, is there any way that i can convert a portugese laptop running win xp to the english version,can i overwrite with a english ver;or is it a bit more complicated...i am new to pc !!...the pc was bought on ebay by my brother and was wondering what his options might be..hes got the english versions of win xp and win;m.e....any help would be greatly appreciated....theted...
 
I've had this problem before with a laptop bought in Germany. It doens't appear to be possible to change the language settings on XP Home once it is installed - but if you have an English XP disk and license then it may be possible to reinstall over the top. You may have to try it and see if it lets you - although someone here may know better.
 
As Ian said you could do a fresh install with your own version of XP.
However the fact you will have a German keyboard may cause problems, you however do so at your own risk!

There may be someone who looks at this later who may be able to help more.:thumb:

I have a UK computer with Win xp. My Wife is Chinese so I reformated the hard drive and loaded a Chinese Win xp all is working ok.
 
thanks for that w.bishop...still waiting for the postman :D looks like there shouldent be a problem with loading the english version of winxp...thanks for all your help guys....
