Does video conferencing using Messenger require you to open loads of ports
in your firewall or use the DMZ (eg is it better than Netmeeting in this
respect)?

Got any recommendations for a Wireless router/access point for broadband
that supports H.323?

Greetings,

Video Conferencing using Messenger uses ports 5004 through 65535 UDP. However, it makes use
of Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) and does not make use of H.323.

For a good, Messenger compatible router/AP, check out the Microsoft MN-500:

Does Messenger 5.0 still require UpnP router?

I have never been able to get 4.7 working but 5.0 worked for a while so I'm
a little puzzled.

Then I am VERY puzzled because after upgrading to Messenger 5, for about 4
days it was working.

No, nothing - when initiating anything (voice or video) after the other
person accepts, it just says that it is trying to connect to the other
computer.

Sometimes it comes straight back saying the other person ended the call
(which they did not)

When trying to initiate whiteboard Windows seems to go off and do a bunch of
things then nothing.

So any clues would be appreciated ...
