I want to setup a VPN between a main office (XP Pro) and a remote site (XP
Pro), what's the best why to configure the router? Is it just open a couple
of ports on the router, and set a fairly complex password for the only user
account that will require this access? If so, what ports will I have to
enable?

Thanks,
Simon

Since you can only use PPTP in your situation you need to port forward port
1723 TCP to the computer that is accepting VPN connections and also allow
the router to pass protocol 47 for GRE which is commonly referred to as PPTP
pass through on many internet router devices. Yes be sure to use passwords
that are complex and at least ten characters in length. --- Steve

Is the idea behind the passthrough or prot 47, that the vpn "server" sends
info back to the client?
