I recently had to reinstall my laptop from the
manufacturer's restore CD's and ever since, Internet
Explorer is running very slowly on some pages. It seems to
have something to do with opening new windows using
javascript. For instance, clicking the View More Photos
option on Best Buy's site takes about 25 seconds for the
window to open (and I have a cable connection). This link
appears to call a javascript function. There are other
pages that load slowly, also seeming to use javascript
links or sometimes jscript. I did not have this problem
before the re-install, and Mozilla and Netscape work fine.
Because of this, pages that have Pop-ups are an
xtra-special pain now! IE is basically unusable for me.
Does anybody have a clue as to what's going on? I have
downloaded all the available updates from Microsoft, I'm
running XP with IE 6 SP1. The problem was there before
doing the updates and after.
