populating cells using rank in other sheet

I am trying to populate cells on the basis of rank listing in another worksheet - it is pulling out a "top 10" from a list of hundreds of items. The source worksheet has various rank criteria in it, in other words it is not statically sorted to look one way.

In other words, can anybody think of a way of populating row 1, column A in worksheet 1 with row x in worksheet 2, given that x is in the row identified as rank1 in column B, worksheet 2.

You could insert a column in front of your existing data and populate it with the RANK numbers. Then you can use VLOOKUP to extract the specific ranks you require.
