I have an Access 2003 database with names and addresses,
dates etc... I have form letters as template files that
were written in Microsoft Word and saved as temp01.doc
files. I want to be able to run query using Access
against the data, send output to these formletters,
populating key areas, name, address, dates, etc on the
form letters, to printer as well as save each separate
report to separate folder on the hard drive, (to be
accessed later if needed). I'd like some advice on how to
get there, all input would be appreciated. I'd like to
be able to keep the original temp01.doc file unchanged,
but be able to populate key field areas on the form with
data from access database, save the output form to file,
print the report, etc. Any advice?? Thanks in advance
for any knowledge sharing. Robert at dps

Liz,

Thanks for the response to the message. I was aware of
the mail merge feature from Word joining Access data, but
I need to to the other way, from Access to Word.. Open an
output report file (word.doc template) and stuff text
fields into it for access data, then save to separate file
for each record as case_date.doc and print via Access
report printer. If you've had any experience in merging
Access data from access to word, I'd appreciate some
help... thanks. Robert

Not sure I totally understand what the difference is, but
yes, you can merge out of Access to Word.
In HELP in Access type in:
EXPORT A TABLE OR QUERY TO A MICROSOFT WORD MAIL MERGE
DATA SOURCE FILE.
That will walk you through the steps.
Hope that is what you are after.
