incoming and outgoing mail and typed it into windows mail. It will retrieve
messages from my school account but when i try to send messages from windows
mail it tells me this

The connection to the server has failed. Subject '', Account:
'pop3.uno.edu', Server: 'smtp.uno.edu', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Connections to port 25 seldom work when the connection crosses from
one internet provider to another.

Are you connected to uno.edu?

In order for port 25 SMTP to work, you must use the SMTP server
belonging to the network that is providing your Internet connection.

I rather doubt that your error message is identical to the one below.
Please post your exact error message.

I had this problem in the past... here's how I corrected it.

First: Double check your POP & SMTP settings ... be certain that you are
using the correct port settings as provided by the server. If that
information has been entered correctly, next you can try modifying your
authentication settings.

To modify authentication settings in Windows Mail:
Click TOOLS > ACCOUNTS > Under Mail, click the email account you're having
trouble with > Click SERVERS tab > Under Outgoing Mail, select "my server
requires authentication" (for many servers, the information is identical to
your sign-in information and no other modifications are required) > Click OK
Close Windows Mail, reopen & try resending the mail from the outbox (click
SEND/RECEIVE > SEND ALL)

If you still have trouble... post again and we'll go through the next set of
trouble shooting steps, ok?
