POP3 account setup and testing

I have two identical computers on an internal home network that are both running Outlook 2003 on XP Professional. On PC1 I configured my POP3 Yahoo account_1, tested it, and everything is running fine. On PC2 I configured my POP3 Yahoo account_2 with the exact same Yahoo incoming/outgoing mail server settings, but the test fails when trying to connect to the Yahoo incoming mail server. I verified my yahoo username and password and all other settings.

Yahoo account_1 and Yahoo account_2 are completely different.

I have re-installed Outlook on PC2 with no luck. I have even created a few "dummy" yahoo accounts to test on this machine yet they all fail the test.

I am at a loss on what to try next.

Any suggestions anyone?
 
Set up a dummy pop3 account on some service besides Yahoo and try it from the second machine. Maybe Yahoo is blocking the 2nd connection because it figures some kind of SPAM activity is going on. I assume that you are able to surf the web fine from the second machine?
 
Set up the accounts in OE and see if it works. Do you have a firewall
installed and is OL allowed?

I used Outlook Express previously and they worked fine. I have a LinkSys router that has a built in Firewall. All functions of internet access and email have been working fine with my current setup. I'm not sure what you mean by if OL is allowed?

OK, I can try that. All internet and email functions were working fine on both PC's prior to configuring Outlook.
 
Some firewalls, especially software firewalls like zone alarm, block
programs from accessing the internet unless you specifically allow it.

OE works on that computer, so we know it has a connection to yahoo.
Did you triple verify the server names were correct?
Did you make a new profile using the control panel or add to/edit and
exiting one?
