If you're getting the standard pop-up & pop-under windows from various websites, simply install a pop-up stopper utility. See this link for some choices (start with the free version):

If you're receiving other types of messages (e.g., via Windows Messaging), you'll have to tell us which operating system you're using.

try to download the Google toolbar. it helps.
alternatively, (or in addition), you may want to download
Popup Defender - its free. If u use this option be
careful to ensure that only websites that u dont like are
blocked. in case u block a website that u need, you may
review your block list and unblock it. to allow pop ups
in the google toolbar just press Ctrl button when openig
the site.
