pop-ups

i've got a serious problem with pop-ups on my computer. I
leave my computer for less than a half hour and there's
more than 50 ads that have popped up and it's slowing my
machine down. it also makes it very difficult to use
programs on my computer because it interrupts whatever
program i am using. I originally thought it was web site
based but i turned my connection off and there was still
pop-ups trying to open. could there be any programs on my
computer that would cause this? please help before this
issue gets worse

Get Ad-Aware and update to the latest reference file.
Select all items detected and remove.
You may have to reboot and rerun to completely remove the nasties.

You should update and run these at least once a week.

To stop Messenger Service pop-ups you need a firewall like ZoneAlarm.
